Our producer Meghan Kraft is your Alice for this EDM wonderland tour
The Ever After EDM festival in Kitchener, Ontario, just set off its fourth year, bigger and bassier than ever. Last year’s bass hit so hard they got over 100 noise complaints. To help avoid that this year, Ever After brought in a special speaker system called The Trinity. This cost doubles the usual rental cost in between $30-$50,000. This lets them direct the sound to target the crowd, resulting in less sound bleeding into the surrounding area. So yeah it’s some pretty serious bass if they need new tech just to wrangle it in.
The bass-heavy line up included favourites like Excision, Flux Pavillion, Claude Vonstroke, Doctor P, Illesium, Borgore, Zomboy, Kill the Noise, and more. And if the main stage somehow doesn’t hit you hard enough, they added a second drum and bass stage with DJ sets from Pendulum, Black Sun Empire, Camo & Kroo Ked, and others.
When you head down the rabbit hole to this EDM wonderland, there’s so much more than just the music included with your ticket. Held at the Bingeman Waterpark, you get access to slides and pools, letting you cool off during the hot days. You also have unlimited access to all amusement park rides and games. It’s like hitting the local fair or water park as a kid, except with a banging soundtrack.
There’s a Games & Fun Zone to play around in with a Synthetic Roller Rink, WipeOut obstacle course, and other activities to jump into. New to this year is their Extreme Zone with a zipline, rock climbing wall, and trampoline.
When you want to kick back, they have a Chill Zone with everything you need to relax and get cozy. Here you can get in touch with your spiritual side and vibe with like-minded people. “The value of bringing spirituality and consciousness into festivals is we give people another opportunity for altered states. We come here to experience music and human connection and by adding the flavour of spirituality they see they can vibrate not just on altered substances but in fact energy.” – Chill Zone Team
There a ton more going on, you truly have to experience it if you’re an EDM fan or just love a big fun festival. For the 3-day/3-night event they offer a range of camping options to fit your style and budget. Stay tuned for their 2019 announcements so you can book your days off next June.
