February is a happening time in Vancouver as Valentine’s Day and Family Day are right around the corner. Although Valentine’s Day isn’t considered a statutory holiday, it’s a good excuse to feel the love. As for Family Day, which falls on February 18 this year, B.C. natives are preparing for another anticipated long weekend – the first statutory holiday after Christmas and New Year’s.
Aside from these two reoccurring holidays, Vancouver has a solid line-up of February events in the city. Now that most of us have found our sea legs in 2019, there’s no better time to get out and have some fun, meet some people, and learn some things. Here are ten events happening in Vancouver this month.
Kickstand, a volunteer-run and non-profit organization, is a donation-based bicycle repair shop on Commercial Drive. The event, which will take place on Saturday, February 2 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., aims to raise money to support the Unist’ot’en Camp, with all proceeds being donated to the Unist’ot’en Legal Fund. This all-ages event will feature live music, DJs, food, drinks, a silent art auction, and a pop-up thrift shop.
Kickstand is currently looking for people interested in getting involved with this event, so if you’re an artist, thrifter, or you’re just looking to help out, email email@example.com with “Unist’ot’en Fundraiser/ Kick It” in the subject line!
