Where to Find the Best Tacos in Vancouver

Tacos make the world go 'round. Here are our picks for the best taco shops in Vancouver:

Food & Drink

Nestled just off of Main St in Railtown, Cuchillo’s a hidden treasure for Spanish tapas and tacos. In true cool fashion, they have no sign announcing themselves — just a glowing, purple sugar skull hanging out front. The food is served family style and you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. Try the pulled pork tacos for a sweet and spicy combo.

The Pawn Shop

Located in the center of downtown, The Pawn Shop is a must before hitting the Granville Party Strip. The decor and bartenders attitudes are inspired by East LA – you can expect good-natured, cheeky banter and graffiti-covered walls. Dig in at Happy Hour to beat the crowds and grab some cheap drinks. The Al Pastor Taco is what’s up.

Take a trip down Vancouver’s Blood Alley and hit up Gringo. It’s an unpretentious taco bar squeezed tightly into the side of a building — you sit shoulder-to-shoulder with 10 of your new best friends. It has cheap eats, a bright in-your-face neon decor, and strong drinks.

Scattered around Vancouver, Tacofino is numero uno in our hearts. With humble beginnings as a food truck in Tofino (this was where their fish taco became famous) the little food truck that could, did.

La Taqueria Pinche Taco Shop

Do you know what ‘Pinche’ means? No? You can ask someone who does… but they might call you a pinche gringo.

La Taqueria has rightfully earned its place on this list. Serving up authentic Mexican tacos, this pinche taco shop will scratch that itch when you’re missing Mexico.

Korea meets Mexico here with taco fusion. The flavours work surprisingly well together – try their Bulgogi Burrito and see for yourself. TaKo is hidden underneath the Chinatown Skytrain Station on Expo Blvd. If you don’t know where it is, you might not find it. Super secret, super delicious.

Las Margaritas

Las Margaritas looks like everything an American tourist expects Mexico to be. The food is awesome and their Fiesta Hour deals are pretty great, too. They offer $4.75 house margaritas and $5 Coronas, Taquitos, Mini Chimis, and Chipotle Wings.

Bandidas Taqueria

Bandidas grew from virtually nothing on Commercial Drive into what it is today, opened by two women with a dream. They make everything in-house, squeezing limes daily for the margaritas and pressing tortillas per order. Bandidas is a must-try for all you vegans, vegetarians, and plant-based people out there.
